Looking back on a tremendously successful 2007, the completion of our dream, creating "I.T.D.T." (immediate total data transparency), the beta IIDS (Integrated Information and Distribution System) is ready, so we are looking forward to an exceptional 2008
Jeroen Wisse:
"Together with the programming teams of Programming-Pool Romania in their Development Center in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) and the guys in Baia Mare (Headquarters of PPR / Romania) we have made some truly exceptional steps forwards with IT solutions for the Hospitality Industry.
It all started about three years ago while still working for the Accor Hotellerie Deutschland; I was in charge of supervising the implementation of solutions PPR was making for the Dorint Hotels & Resorts. During this period PPR made a strategic decision - to facilitate IIDS (Integrated Information and Distribution System). This meant, a complete new information flow and architecture, a new Central Reservation System and a new Customer Datawarehouse (Client Database).
PPR recognized the fact that the Hospitality Industry operates mainly with "island" solutions, where the data is kept on a stand-alone basis in an individual Hotel PMS (property management system) and does not communicate with other Hotel PMS's, or communicate with a central client database.
Adriaan Kleingeld, the owner of Programming Pool Romania continually talked about the "bigger picture", and kept asking why Hotels were not supplying the important information across a whole hotel chain to the relevant employees, who needed the information to make informed decisions based on real facts.
How could hotels turn away clients who wanted to book simply because a hotel was full when they had another hotel with exactly what the client was looking for 50 KM's further away?
Adriaan coined the phrases "N.D.T. & D.D.T" (no data transparency & delayed data transfer) within PPR and said the goal of PPR must be "I.T.D.T." (immediate total data transparency).
The existing scenarios of "N.D.T." & "D.D.T" (no-data-transparency & delayed data transfer) in the hospitality industry lead to the following: A client who travels to several hotels in the same chain, is not recognized by the individual hotels (he needs an extra pillow and has to ask for this in each hotel), perhaps a very mundane example but serves the purpose when all hotels have slogans about "surpassing expectations" and "taking better care of you".
Now it is not just the client who suffers from this "N.D.T.", the hotels are not even aware of the price and possible agreements the client may have in other hotels so all pricing decisions are based on guess work and good luck.
In an era where any client has multiple booking channels and possibilities, the internet, great companies on the net who compare these channels and prices, hotels can no longer hope that there is price parity across all channels, things are simply happening to quickly. Add to that trends like dynamic pricing, either manual or as a result of an intelligent yield system, and it becomes physically impossible to manage and maintain multiple channels simultaneously without intelligent applications doing this automatically.
We were very lucky, Eric Lassiaille former General Director of the DorintResorts (at that time still part of the Dorint AG) and later as Managing Director of the "Neue Dorint GmbH" had the same vision of I.T.D.T.
The new CRS, OptiRez, incorporates the web booking engine (OptiBook), the sales strategy and dynamic pricing (OptiRate), the channel management (possible on an individual channel for channel basis) and distribution (OptiChannel), all conceivable statistics and the actual yield calendar (OptiStats) as well as a Rate comparison tool of your competition (OptiView / currently still under construction).
The new Customer Datawarehouse (OptiInformation) is also seamlessly connected to the CRS and the other applications PPR builds for the Hospitality Industry ensuring the "bigger picture" philosophy.
After three years hard work we have an exceptional, modular application which will definitely set standards in the Hospitality Industry, proof of concept is the fact that we are currently discussing collaboration possibilities with multiple leaders in the domain of Hospitality Software and will soon make public which partners we are going to work with."
