Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
A form of Internet marketing that seeks to promote websites by increasing their visibility in search engine result pages (SERPs). According to the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization, SEM methods include: search engine optimization (or SEO), paid placement, contextual advertising, and paid inclusion.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
The process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Typically, the higher a site's "page rank" (i.e, the earlier it comes in the search results list), the more visitors it will receive from the search engine.

Search Engine Optimization for Hotels (SEO for Hotels)
The facts show that approximately 80% of consumers prefer to click organic or natural search engine listings rather then paid search listings. By enhancing optimization and designing your website specifically for maximum search engine marketability you will achieve the maximum potential of your hotel's Internet marketing strategy.

Site Re-engineering
If your website is not addressing your marketing needs, lacks the professionalism or is simply not visually appealing, you might want to consider a redesign, an update of your website according to the latest market requirements to make it more marketable.

Social Bookmarking
A method for Internet users to store, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web pages on the Internet with the help of metadata.

Software Documentation
Written text that accompanies computer software. It either explains how it operates or how to use it, and may mean different things to people in different roles.

Software Implementation
A systematically structured approach to effectively integrate a software based service or component into the workflow of an organizational structure or an individual end-user.

Source Code
Any collection of statements or declarations written in some human-readable computer programming language. Source code allows the programmer to communicate with the computer using a reserved number of instructions.

What's in a word?

Keeping up to date with the latest terminology can be tricky at the best of times. With all the abbreviations and catch-phrases, new word concoctions and descriptors that have taken root in modern day parlance, maintaining a “Glossary of Terms” that keeps pace with technological developments can be a risky business!
