Unique Hotel ID in the Global Distribution System (GDS).

Accor
A large French multinational corporation, part of the CAC 40 index, operating in nearly 100 countries. Accor is the European leader in hotels (Accor Hospitality) and a global leader in corporate services (Accor Services).

Accor Hospitality
Accor Hospitality, the Accor hotels branch, has more than 4,000 hotels worldwide. It starts from the most luxurious hotels to the most economic lodging solution.

Accor Services
Through Accor Services, Accor runs service vouchers to over 430,000 companies and institutions and 30 million users in 40 countries: Ticket Restaurant, Luncheon Vouchers, Ticket Alimentacao, Clean Way, Ticket Service, Childcare Vouchers, Eyecare Vouchers, Bien-Etre a la Carte, Worklife Benefits, EAR, Accentiv', Academie du Service, Tesorus, Ticket Compliments.

Active Server Pages (ASP)
Active Server Pages (ASP), also known as Classic ASP, was Microsoft's first server-side script engine for dynamically-generated web pages. Initially releasead as an add-on to Internet Information Services (IIS) via the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack, it was subsequently included as a free component of Windows Server (since the initial release of Windows 2000 Server).

Allocations
Represent the minimum number of rooms that should be guaranteed to customers every day.

Allotment
Represents the number of rooms blocked by a group booking or reservation. It can be subdivided into: per day, per type of room or in the total number of booked rooms.

Alternate Distribution System (ADS)
A system designed to compete head-to-head with the major Global Distribution Systems (GDS) suppliers.

Amadeus IT Group
Amadeus IT Group specialises in travel technology solutions to facilitate the distribution and sale of airline, train, cruise ship, rental car, hotel and other travel services. The traditional core of its business is the Amadeus Global Distribution System (GDS); more recently the company has tried to reposition itself as an IT partner for the travel and tourism industries, offering e-commerce and IT services in addition to its distribution business.

Availability
Room Availability

Average Day Rate (ADR)
Statistical unit that is often used in the lodging industry. The number represents the average rental income per occupied room in a given time period. ADR along with the property's occupancy are the foundations for the property's financial performance. The ADR can calculated by dividing the room revenue by the number of rooms sold.

Average Length of Stay (ALoS)
Represents the average number of nights that a visitor stays at any one hotel during a single trip.

What's in a word?

Keeping up to date with the latest terminology can be tricky at the best of times. With all the abbreviations and catch-phrases, new word concoctions and descriptors that have taken root in modern day parlance, maintaining a “Glossary of Terms” that keeps pace with technological developments can be a risky business!
